Her mother Martina Magenau Jacobs was a Carnegie Mellon University director of alumni relations at the Heinz College. Her family was raised by her father, William F. Jacobs Jr. Lebanon. She's of French German, Irish and Scottish heritage. She is of French Scottish, Irish and German descent. Her great-grandfather John Martin Magenau Jr. was President and CEO at the Jackson Koehler Eagle Brewery in Erie Pennsylvania which had been established in 1847. It was shut down in the year 1978. Jacobs began her acting studies when she was eight years old and was enrolled in acting classes on Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playhouse while growing up.She performed with Pittsburgh Public Theater. Pittsburgh Public Theater where she had a regular place in the Public's Shakespeare Monologue Contest leading her to be chosen in the role of Titania in their production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. After graduating from Mt. Jacobs and graduating in 2000 from Lebanon High School, moved into New York City New York where she studied at The Juilliard School. She graduated in 2004 with an undergraduate degree.
